Super-soft bounds and Higher Spins EFTs
Francesco Sgarlata, SISSA
Event Type: Informal HEP Talk
Time: 11:00 AM - 12:00 PM
Location: 726 Broadway, 940, CCPP Seminar
Abstract: Using analyticity properties of the S-matrix, I will derive a class of amplitudes’ constraints under the assumptions of a local, unitary and Lorentz-invariant theory. I will show that these bounds strongly constraint a wide class of Wilsonian Effective Field Theories also providing an upper bound on the physical cut-off. As interesting application, I will discuss their impact on massive higher-spins EFTs which turn out to be extremely weakly coupled and reduce to the free theory in the massless limit.

Line Intensity Mapping
Shengqi Yang, New York University
Event Type: CCPP Brown Bag
Time: 12:30 PM - 2:00 PM
Location: 726 Broadway, 940, CCPP Seminar
Abstract: Molecular and fine structure lines emitted from the cooling gas, which hosts star formation, provide information about the environment of galaxy evolution and are attracting attention in recent years. Line intensity mapping (LIM) is a new promising technique for studying the three dimensional unbiased line emission. To connect the physical properties of the interstellar medium and the intergalactic medium to the forthcoming LIM observations, we simulate a 2 square degree LIM mock light cone catalog expanding on redshift range 0
