Abstract: Holographic correlators are scattering amplitudes in AdS space, but are much harder to compute due to the complicated appearance of IIB supergravity in a curved background. On the other hand, these observables are strongly constrained by maximal superconformal symmetry. In this talk, I will introduce methods based on symmetries and consistency conditions for computing these holographic correlators, which eschew the details of the supergravity effective Lagrangian. I will first review how all one-half BPS four-point functions can be obtained by solving an algebraic bootstrap problem. I will then introduce two new methods which generalize the bootstrap techniques to computing five-point functions. I will point out the similarities between holographic correlators and scattering amplitudes in flat space, and comment on how they can be useful for extending this program to higher points. |
